Volunteer

At the NIA, everyone is a volunteer. Although there is no financial gain, volunteers in the NIA gain historical knowledge, make new friends, learn new skills and are the base of this organization. Distance is not a factor—the new technology (even SKYPE) helps us to communicate with NIA members everywhere. Many organizations have taken an interest in the NIA historical project. For example: Masters students from Pratt Institute; members of the New York City Board of Records; Municipal Library; StoryCorps, which records and preserves oral histories.
